Desert Highway is a new style of media content company

Because you never know who you’re going to meet or what stories you are going to tell.  Desert Highway is a new style of media content company. It is a creative space where industry professionals come together to collaborate on exciting storytelling. Born from a vision of forming a dream team of creatives to develop and produce programmes with passion. We are on the journey to find the great stories of our time and share them with the world.

The Creator of Desert Highway - Anna Curtin

Anna dreamt of being on stage as a little girl but her journey to become the next big star of the West End was thwarted when she drove into a tree and shattered her legs.

Her love of the theatre didn’t go away and she started working for a theatre producer, but after furiously swearing down the phone at a famous director who she thought was ‘on hold’, a new career path was sought and she moved into TV.

The glittering tower on the South Bank beckoned and Anna spent the first part of her career as a celebrity booker for LWT.

Her love for development began whilst working at the tower and Anna was surprised to be offered her first development producer job at the BBC working for the now legendary David Young development team. The trauma of being eliminated by her work mates during run throughs of the Weakest Link still scars her today.

A career in development followed and Anna has been fortunate enough to develop and devise programmes across all genres. Her portfolio is varied and bold. Sex In Court for E4– an entertaining pitch, to reversionise the twee little parlour game Win, Lose or Draw for late night TV as an excuse to get celebrities to draw cocks.

The theme continues today as Anna dreamt up the new daytime show ‘Drawers Off’ for Channel 4. Nudity on daytime - A real box ticker.

Anna has also managed to get her first love of musicals onto TV by devising All Star Musicals at Shiver. And for the record, a photoshopped Danny Dyer as Frank n Furter’s body is something that once seen cannot be unseen.

Even today, Anna is obsessed with bringing the two worlds of musical theatre and television together and it’s not just to get comps for shows, it comes from a real love of both art forms. She is excited to be collaborating with some of the biggest stars in musical theatre.

Anna is a curator of interesting people and their stories and is passionate about sharing these tales with the world to not only entertain but inspire.

Having been a ‘hired development gun’ for many years, and with the pandemic messing with the creative industry, she’s taken the opportunity to start Desert Highway.

Therefore the aim of Desert Highway is to showcase the fascinating world around us and take the viewers on a road trip they’ll never forget.
